Summary:	Mandy Jenkins leaves Alabama for Harlem, where she lands a seamstress job with a financially troubled musical. Ted Gregory is trying to become the first black producer to mount a show on Broadway. When the star of the show, hard-drinking Eloise Jackson, accidentally breaks her leg in a fall, Ted turns to Mandy for help.
