This volume accomplishes nicely its goal "to provide an interpretation of Dominica expressing its culture, its place in the world, and the qualities and background that make it unique." Emphasis is on 20th-century works, with older ones included as appropriate, spanning physical and population features, the national park, considerable coverage of the Carib reservation, and, of course, history, geography, literature, travel, and description.
