Originally developed by the Latino gangs of L.A., cholo writing is one of the oldest forms of 20th century graffiti of names'. In the 1970s, photographer Howard Gribble took pictures of of Latino gang graffiti over a wide geographic area. In 2008, Chastanet went to the same neighbourhoods to photograph the inscriptions of today.'
