Review by Booklist Review

Animator Timm and writer Dini were cocreators of the early-1990s Batman Adventures TV series, which skillfully balanced the character's noir roots and an appealing playfulness. The duo occasionally moonlighted in the character's original medium, bringing their conception of the Caped Crusader to comic books in the handful of stories collected here. The standout is the title story, which retells the TV-show origins of Harley Quinn, the Joker's equally loony girlfriend and partner in crime. Many comics creators have subsequently worked in a similarly economical, cartoony style, but none have pulled it off with anything close to Timm and Dini's panache.--Flagg, Gordon Copyright 2009 Booklist
