Summary:Sissy Goforth (Taylor), the world's richest woman and slowly dying, has retired to her Mediterranean island estate to dictate her autobiography when poet Chris Flanders (Burton) washes up on her beach. Flanders has the unfortunate reputation of calling on ladies one step before the undertaker and is known as the "Angel of death." Undaunted by this, Goforth lets Flanders stay and uses him as a confidante with whom she can discuss personal philosophy before she passes on.
