Summary:The book is a monumental research effort to recover and gather a series of period photographs by photojournalist and studio photographer Valdivia (b. Chile) that were scattered all over Chile in private and public collections. This investigation retrieved a part of one of the most important early 20th century iconographic archives of photojournalism and studio photography of the Norte Chico area in Chile. It was lost entirely when the photographic studio of Olivares Valdivia and its complete photographic archive were destroyed in a fire in 1952 in Copiapó. Includes reproductions of photographs with scenes of Copiapó, portraits and of the 1918 earthquake.
