Environmental microbiology studies a wide range of microorganisms in a variety of environmental settings. Stetzenbach and Yates cover all the relevant terminology used in this diverse subject, defining terms associated with molecular biology, current techniques, biochemical pathways, historical figures in the field, and microorganisms of significance. Scientific names of organisms are italicized and cross-references are underlined. Acronyms are cross-referenced to the complete entry. The entries are pointed and well written, and use figures where appropriate. For scientists and students in environmental microbiology, but also a resource for nonscientists. ^BSumming Up: Recommended. All libraries. M. E. Lenczewski Northern Illinois University
