The field of business valuation is often either clouded in mystery or explained in terms of math, intensive spreadsheets, or models. While this is routine for professional business appraisers, it is daunting to other business, even financial, professionals. The authors, both highly experienced valuation professionals, do a superb job of bringing an intimidating subject to a level all businesspersons can understand and use, and they accomplish this without sacrificing the essence or sound theoretical foundations of the subject. They have developed a practical approach to valuation based on real-world activity reflecting their many years of observation and application of valuation techniques. The volume contains a glossary and a list of related Internet Web sites. Additionally, the volume comes with a CD-ROM with numerous Word files, including questionnaires, rules of thumb, and SBA guidelines. The accounting primer alone will prove an invaluable resource to nonfinancial managers. One of the most impressive financial volumes this reviewer has seen in many years. ^BSumming Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduate through professional collections. F. A.
