Notes:	Salomon Hirzel published three catalogs of his Goethe collection; the first, "Verzeichniss einer Goethe-Bibliothek", anonymously in 1848; the second, "Neues Verzeichniss einer Goethe-Bibliothek", in 1862; the third, "Neuestes Verzeichniss ... (1767-1874)" in 1874. A fourth catalogue "Salomon Hirzels Verzeichniss ... mit Nachträgen und Fortsetzung hrsg. von Ludwig Hirsel", was published in 1884. The collection was bequeathed in 1877 to the library of the University of Leipzig.
