Published anonymously. Dedicated to "I. B.," i.e. John Bodenham, under whose patronage the work was produced and to whom it has been often attributed. In a copy preserved in the British museum the dedication is signed "Robert Allott" and Bodenham's name is printed in full. cf. Dict. nat. biog., v. 1, p. 336, and v. 5, p. 291-292.
Third volume in a series of which Bodenham's "Politeuphuia: Wits commonwealth," 1597, was the first; Meres' "Palladis Tamia," 1598, the second; and "Palladis Palatium: Wisedom's Pallace," 1604, the fourth.
