Summary:	Ground sample data were collected on vegetation/site characteristics such as species, height, percent cover, landform, and landuse to provide supplementary information for the land cover characteristics database of the conterminous United States. These data, and almost 3900 photographs were collected from 2560 one kilometer square ground sample plots randomly located across the United States.
