Teachers as an organized group play an important role in the politcal process and influence issues requiring government decision. This study applies the concepts and methods of pressure group analysis to the principal teachers' organization in France, the Fédération de l'éducation nationale (FEN). the history, aims, structure, cohesion and methods of FEN are described and FEN action is illustrated and interpreted in two case studies.
