An excellent beginner's or general reader's dictionary for international and comparative law. Several thousand entries are described briefly, and nearly 100 leading journals were used to provide most entries with annotations. Terms in French, German, Italian, and Latin are included. Cross-references and "see" references are excellent and the treatment of acronyms is clear and helpful. There could be a few more cross-references, e.g., linking the various treaties that ended WW I. Some of the information has gone out of date with the tremendous changes in the international arena; but this is a problem with books in many fields. Recommended wholeheartedly for all libraries, since it will help students who have questions as well as seasoned scholars who need quick citations. S. J. Stillwell Jr.; Harvard University
