Weinberg's comprehensive bibliography cites a wealth of research on myriad topics relating to racism in contemporary America. It is the third in a series from Greenwood (following Racism in the United States, CH, Oct'90, and World Racism and Related Inhumanities, CH, Nov'92). It contains 14,671 entries and offers 110 pages of indispensable indexing. The contents are arranged under 87 subject headings (e.g., affirmative action, concentration camps, economics of racism, IQ and race, Ku Klux Klan, multiculturalism, racist groups, slavery, women of color). The editor bases his selection on the premise that "racism is an ideology or system of ideas that allocates superiority and inferiority to separate sections of people so as to award privileges to the former and deprivations to the latter." This top-notch, timely bibliography, with numerous citations to pertinent research, will be essential for academic and large public libraries and for researchers. M. E.
