A daily journal of happenings for which copy was prepared in Boston and supplied to newspapers there and in New York and Philadelphia. It was widely reprinted in other American newspapers and in some publications in England. The material was originally published under varying titles. The initial instalment appeared first in the New York journal on October 13, 1768 under the heading Journal of transactions in Boston. In the next issue the title was Journal of the times. By the fourth issue the heading became Journal of occurrences. The first title used in the Boston evening post was Journal of transactions in Boston, but later portions carry the heading Journal of the times. The authors have not been identified. cf.
