| Item Description: | Set includes various issues of some sheets, some reissued by U. S. Army map service, some by British Middle East forces (M. D. R. 561) Sheets are numbered in accordance with the system of the International 1/m map of the world. Elevations shown by contours at 100 meter vertical intervals and spot heights; some sheets have altitude tints, some have hachures. Legends in French and English. Military grid. Normal and narrow gauge railways, four classes of roads or tracks, and three types of internal boundaries are shown. Air information on some sheets includes lines of equal magnetic variation and 3 classes of airfields. Some sheets are "prepared by the Army map service for use in daylight, or under ultra-violet, red and amber lights." Copied from maps by French Service géographique de l'Armée. Marginal maps include index to adjoining sheets and index to boundaries. |
