Duensing (former director of the Center for Urban Policy Research library, Rutgers Univ.) provides a comprehensive guide to materials published from 1980 to the present. The book is divided into five sections: dictionaries and glossaries, indexes and abstracts, a directory of directories, planning and planning-related organizations, and appendixes. Each section yields resource information relevant to the field and to interdisciplinary areas. Most entries are annotated with descriptive background data. Organization listings include name, address, and telephone and fax numbers of national-level professional associations and federal agencies. Indexes and abstracts cited include online access information when applicable. Appendixes list rosters of prominent state data and business centers and graduate programs in urban and regional planning. Although not as exhaustive as Melville Branch's Comprehensive Urban Planning (CH, Jul'70) or Alexander, Catanese, and Sawicki's Urban Planning (CH, Jun'79), Duensing's guide is the most current and germane for contemporary researchers. An essential work for all academic and professional libraries supporting urban planning programs. M. A. Lutes; University of Notre Dame
