Using as criteria that these writers have written both poetry and/or fiction and literary criticism and/or theory, Gerry has compiled a bibliography of 16 Canadian and US women authors (slight emphasis on Canadian) for whom annotated bibliographies are not available, e.g., Nicole Brossard, Jane Rule. Each chapter is devoted to one author with her works arranged in chronological order, categorized, and numbered. The annotations are substantive except for fiction and poetry which have none. In the last chapter "Related Bibliographies" Gerry lists 18 additional women authors and at least one major bibliography that has been published about each. Although a few of the first group of 16 have one or more entries in Wendy Frost's Feminist Literary Criticism: A Bibliography of Journal Articles, 1975-1981 (CH, Oct'88), Gerry's coverage is much more extensive. Many of the authors also appear in one or more of the Gale series on authors and literary biography, but this work fills a niche in feminist literary criticism. Gerry need not have apologized for being a man but writing about women. Recommended for women's studies collections in colleges and universities. T. M. Racz; Eastern Michigan University
