Briefly presents some ethical concerns pertinent to counseling, with the stated purpose of sensitizing readers to ethical issues. Chapters (averaging ten pages) address "Ethics and the Counselor," "Rights of the Client," "Rights of the Counselor," "Codes of Ethics," "Confidentiality," "Working with Children," "Sexual Relations with Clients," "Working with Women," "Lying and Deception," "Paternalism," and "Consulting." Coverage within each chapter, however, is necessarily spotty. The tone presents counselors as being ethically naive, e.g., "{{through this book}} professionals will, perhaps for the first time, have an opportunity to take a close look at their own values." There are several lapses into gender-biased pronouns; the writing is otherwise highly readable. Possibly useful for undergraduates. -C. T. Fischer, Duquesne University
