Notes:This digitized collection comprises a selection of maps held in the University of Chicago Library’s Map Collection and Special Collections Research Center. It follows the representation of the Americas in early modern cartography, with maps dating from the 16th through the 18th centuries, giving a wide perspective of the Americas as illustrated over the course of time. The collection ranges from detailed maps of Mexico, the Caribbean, North and South America, to colorful world maps portraying the engraving techniques of cartographers.
