Summary: | Corporate executive Hansel E. Tookes II was born in 1948 in Tallahassee, Florida. Tookes received his B.S. degree in physics from Florida State University in 1969 and his M.S. degree in aeronautical systems from the University of West Florida in 1971. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy for seven years, and in 1980, he joined Norden Systems, Inc. While at Norden, Tookes oversaw the design and development of a new radar system contracted for the Navy's McDonnell Douglas/General Dynamics A-12 Avenger II. In 1989, Tookes moved to Hamilton Standard as vice president of business planning. He became president of Pratt and Whitney's government engines division in 1997, and joined Raytheon Aircraft Company as president and chief operating officer in 1999. One year later, Tookes succeeded Arthur E. Wegner as chairman and CEO. Tookes retired from Raytheon International, Inc. in 2001.
