Summary:Music director Cornelius Grant was born on April 27, 1943 in Blooming Grove, Texas, but his family moved to Detroit, Michigan. At nine years old, Grant taught himself to play the guitar that his grandmother purchased from a Sears & Roebuck catalog. After meeting his future writing partner Rodger Renzabene and Motown producer Henry Cosby, Grant played guitar for Mary Wells and Marvin Gaye. He became the musical director for the Temptations from 1964 to 1982, and played with many artists on Motown studio sessions. Grant co-wrote and created the opening guitar riff for "(I Know) I'm Losing You," and wrote "You're My Everything" by the Temptations. He co-wrote "Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me" by Gladys Knight & the Pips and "My Weakness Is You" by Edwin Starr," along with "I'm More Than Happy (I'm Satisfied)" by Stevie Wonder. In 1982, Grant became a writer for Hollywood Reporter and BRE Magazine.
