Summary:Former mayor Priscilla Taylor was born on December 31, 1949, in Fort Pierce, Florida. She received her B.S. degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida in 1997, and her M.B.A. degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1999. Before college, Taylor worked in the insurance industry, eventually forming her own company. In 1999, she was elected to the Palm Beach County Commission, where she became chairwoman in 2001. Taylor was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2004 and served as the democratic whip from 2004 to 2006. In 2009, she was appointed to the Palm Beach County Commission. She was re-elected in 2010 and 2012, and was elected mayor of Palm Beach County in 2014. In addition to her service in government, Taylor was also involved in a variety of community organizations, and received many awards in recognition of her service.
