Summary:Corporate executive Darwin Nathaniel Davis was born on April 10, 1932, in Flint, Michigan. After attending Clark Elementary School, Whitaker Junior High School and Flint Central High School, Davis played football at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and earned his B.A. degree in business administration in 1954. Returning to college after three years in the U.S. Army, Davis earned his M.Ed. degree from Wayne State University and then worked as a math teacher. Hired by Equitable Life Insurance in 1965, Davis reached the Million Dollar Round Table in his first two years and became a district manager by his third. In 1989, Davis was promoted to senior vice president and recognized by Black Enterprise magazine as one of the twenty-five most important African American executives. Davis lived with his wife, Velmarie, in Stamford, Connecticut. He passed away on April 16, 2006, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at age 74.
