Summary:	Public relations executive Ofield Dukes was born on August 8, 1932, in Rutledge, Alabama. After graduating from Wayne State University in 1958, Dukes went to work at The Michigan Chronicle. In 1964, Dukes won several awards for his work. In 1966, he was hired as an assistant to Vice President Hubert Humphrey, but when Humphrey lost the 1968 election, Dukes formed Ofield Dukes & Associates, his own public relations firm in 1969 with Motown as his first client. Sony Music Entertainment, RJR Nabisco and the Congressional Black Caucus, among others also became clients. He was also the founder of the Black Public Relations Society of Washington. Dukes won numerous awards over the years, including a Silver Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America in 1974 and a Gold Anvil in 2001. He was also inducted into the Washington, D.C. Public Relations Society Hall of Fame. Dukes passed away on December 7, 2011 at age 79.
