Educated at Morris Brown College, Clark Atlanta University, the University of Cincinnati and Harvard University, Dudley tutored inner-city youth and also sending books to Africa. Through the Phelps-Stokes Fund, of which he has served as vice president, Dudley sent more than four million books to a number of countries in Africa. Dudley has also served as professor emeritus at Salem State University in Massachusetts. His work for literacy has earned him the praise of others.
