Summary:Judge Gregory M. Sleet was born on March 8, 1951 in New York, New York. Sleet graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia with his B.A. degree in political science. He then went on to complete his J.D. degree at Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey. Sleet began his career as an assistant public defender for the Defender Association of Philadelphia. He then served as deputy attorney general for the State of Delaware. In 1992, Sleet was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as United States Attorney for the District of Delaware. A year later, he was appointed by U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno to the Attorney General's Advisory Committee. Sleet was appointed and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in 1998. In 2007, he was appointed chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
