Summary:Auto sales entrepreneur Larry Thomas Brown was born April 21, 1947, in Inkster, Michigan and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He received his B. S. degree from Wayne State University in Detroit in1973; his M. A. degree in management and supervision from Central Michigan University in 1979 He also graduated from the Ford Motor Company Dealer Training Program. Brown served in the United States Brown served in the Air Force from 1965 to 1969. While attending college, Brown worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1985, Brown left Ford Motor to begin his owner dealership. He was president of Ottawa Ford-Lincoln Mercury and Kia of Ottawa, Illinois. Earlier he owned Star Toyota in Merrillville, Indiana and Landmark Ford in Niles, Illinois. He was the first African-American to be appointed to the board of the National Automobile Dealers Association. Brown also served as chairman of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealerships.
