Summary:Insurance executive Gregory Wayne Jones was born on December 29, 1948 in Newark, Ohio. He graduated from Newark High School in 1967, and joined State Farm Insurance the next year. In 1975, Jones earned his B.A. degree in business from Franklin University and his M.A. degree from Hood College in 1981. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School and earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Jones was division manager of State Farm Insurance's Pennsylvania Region in 1983. After numerous promotions, including executive assistant to the president's office, deputy regional vice president in the Northern California Region and in the South Coast Region, he became vice president of the California region and president of State Farm General Company in 1998. Jones became the first African American president and CEO of State Farm General Insurance Company in 2001. Jones served on the board of directors of State Farm General Insurance Company.
