Summary:Judge Jennifer Jones was born on September 25, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1978. In 1982, Jones received her B.S. degree in social work from the University of Missouri at Columbia. In 1985, she received her J.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma. Following law school, she worked in the office of the district attorney of Muskogee, Oklahoma where she developed a specialty in prosecuting sex offense and juvenile cases. In 1988, Jones took a position with the law firm of Bruce and Davis. She became a partner there in 1992. That same year, Jones was elected Sedgwick County District Court judge. She became the first African American woman to serve as judge in the State of Kansas. In 2001, Jones was appointed to the Municipal Court for the city of Wichita. She was also selected to serve on the Commission on Judicial Qualifications.
