Summary:Automobile dealer Gregory Baranco was born in 1948 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Baranco graduated from Southern University in 1971 with his B.S. degree in business administration. His father, Dr. Beverly Victor Baranco, Jr., was Supreme Knight of the Knights of Peter Claver. Gregory Baranco married Juanita Powell Baranco in 1969. Baranco participated in the General Motors Dealer Development Program. He opened Baranco Pontiac, Inc. in East Point, Georgia with his wife. They expanded their business, opening an Acura dealership in 1988 and Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead in Atlanta in 2001. Baranco was the first chairman of the board of First Southern Bank in Atlanta. He negotiated its merger with Citizens Trust Bank in 1997, and was its vice chairman until 2003. Baranco was honored as Best of the Best Dealer of the Year by Mercedes-Benz USA and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers.
