Summary: | Academic administrator and civic leader Forrest Cleon Crawford was born on August 19, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned his B.A. degree from Weber State College in Utah in 1975, his M.S.W. degree from the University of Utah in 1977, his Ed.S. degree in 1985, and his Ph.D. degree in education in 1990, from Brigham Young University. Crawford was hired at Weber State University as a clinical counselor in psychological services. In 1983, he began working as a career and vocational education instructor. In 1992, he was appointed the first assistant to the president at Weber State for institutional diversity. He founded the WSU Annual American Indian Symposium Crawford established the Utah Coalition for the Advancement of Minorities in Higher Education and served on a number of boards. Crawford also helped to establish the official observance and celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday in the State of Utah.
