Summary:Corporate executive and master stained glass artisan Jack Hampton was born on January 18, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from high school in 1964, Hampton enrolled in the Chicago Technical College, and later earned his B.S. degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Hampton joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and was stationed in Europe. Following his discharge, he worked briefly at Scholmyer Glass Company in Germany. He also did glasswork in Switzerland, France and the United Kingdom. When he returned to the states, Hampton was employed at Montgomery Ward. In 1974, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In his spare time, Hampton continued to work with glass through his company, A to Z Stained Glass. In 1985, he turned full-time to glass artwork. Hampton created more than 10,000 original stained glass pieces that have been featured in churches and private collections throughout Europe and the United States.
