Summary:Corporate executive, philanthropist and community activist Juanita Passmore was born on March 4, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Chicago's Englewood High School in 1944 before moving to Long Beach, California, where she attended Long Beach City College. She returned to Chicago, attending Columbia College. Passmore served in leadership positions with the Chicago Gospel Festival, the board of Jazz Unites and the Women's Board of Operation PUSH. She was the president of Africare-Chicago, and worked with youth in Operation Snowball, a drug use prevention program. Chicago Mayor Harold Washington appointed her commissioner of the Local Board of Improvements, and she served on the Women's Task Force. Passmore was also a member of the Windy City Links and the National Council of Negro Women. In 1974, she joined the Johnson Product Company, serving as executive national coordinator and director of the Division for Cosmetic Consultants. Passmore passed away on March 22, 2016, at the age of 90.
