Summary:Investment chief executive John W. Rogers, Jr. was born on March 31, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois to Judge John Rogers, Sr., and Republican appointee Jewel Lafontant-MANkarious. Graduating from the University of Chicago Laboratory School in 1976, he received his A.B. degree in economics from Princeton University in 1980. In 1983, after working briefly as a stockbroker for William Blair & Company, LLC, Rogers founded Ariel Investment his investment management company. He served on numerous corporate boards. He was chairman of the Chicago Urban League, and a trustee of the University of Chicago. Rogers served as the first African American chairman of the Chicago Park District, and was co-chair for President Barack Obama's Presidential Inaugural Committee 2009. In 2008, he was awarded Princeton University's highest honor, the Woodrow Wilson Award. In 2010, he was honored by The HistoryMakers in the PBS-TV taping, A Night With John Rogers.
