Summary:Music composer and music professor H. Leslie Adams was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1932. After high school, he obtained his bachelor of music degree at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in 1955. Adams went on to earn his master's degree in music from the California State University at Long Beach in 1967 and his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He directed music programs at institutions across the country; and, in 1980, founded and served as president of Accord Associates, Inc. From 1997, he served as the president and artist-in-residence for Creative Arts, Inc. He held teaching appointments at Florida A & M University and the University of Kansas at Lawrence and was commissioned by the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra and the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra. Adams is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the American Guild of Organists.
