Summary:"A true understanding of our past and present attempts to comprehend and gain mental health can be obtained only if we review some of the conceptions of mental ill health and how it was dealt with in the past. When we endeavor to consider the matter of mental health in the future we are at once brought face to face with a complicated and difficult situation. Economic and social factors are changing rapidly; the advancement of scientific knowledge is gaining steadily; therefore, if we are to look far ahead we must deal with many variables. However, in looking into the future we are able to take into account certain developments of the past and at once definitely see certain most desirable objectives which, I believe, with concerted effort we shall attain"--Book.
