This unique work provides comprehensive treatment of the discipline of psychological assessment. Fernandez-Ballesteros (psychological assessment, Univ. Autonoma de Madrid, and editor-in-chief, European Journal of Psychological Assessment) has assembled an impressive international group of scholars and practitioners to write the 220 articles in this set. Unlike handbooks that describe psychological evaluation and commonly used assessment instruments (e.g., Gary Groth-Marnet's Handbook of Psychological Assessment, 4th ed., 2003), this encyclopedia treats nine different categories of assessment, including theory and methodology, intelligence, clinical and health, and environmental assessment. Each article begins with an overview of its place in the scheme of the discipline, providing a unique perspective of field, concept, instrument, and method. Both volumes include an alphabetical list of entries with author and page number, and the "Reader's Guide" collocates related entries. Extensive tables and figures accompany the text. ^BSumming Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates and higher. B. Quarton California State University--San Bernardino
