Summary:Annotation The US Department of Energy asked the Committee to Review the Scientific Evidence on the Polygraph to do so, focusing on aspects that might impact the validity and reliability of lie detectors for personnel security screening. In addition to examining the literature, they visited a number of government agencies to watch the polygraph in operation. Among their findings is that people with sufficient motivation and resources can mount effective countermeasures that degrade accuracy.
