Kandiuk's handy and well-executed bibliography identifies English-language criticism of 36 major French-Canadian writers. Although the list of primary works is limited to monographs translated into English, the bibliography of English-language secondary works is extensive and includes books, articles, parts of books, and dissertations difficult, if not impossible, to locate in other sources. Books reviews, mainly from scholarly sources, appear separately at the end of each author section. English-language criticism of untranslated works is included on the assumption that these works ultimately will be translated. An index to critics and a list of Canadian publishers round out a compact and useful volume. This reviewer would have welcomed a brief description of each author and a genre notation following the titles of translated works. A good addition to college and research library collections. -E. Sartori, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
