Summary: | Poetry. Ryan Walker's LONG TERM RAISIN is a pataphysically astute meandering through the possibilities of popping up half-obsessions. I.e. sometimes "grapes are bees in potholes," if you will. It is one longish, funnyish, hobby or poem filled with institutional critique or something, and entirely so. The tumbling speech acts of LONG TERM RAISIN seem almost casual but continued reading reveals a revelatory perception, precise yet open, which constantly and gratifyingly surprises--few poets are capable of such abrupt composure. "I don't even watch movies / much less think / yesterday will get worse / what a poor dinosaur/ like usual if you're an infielder." |
