Summary:In a story of loss, loneliness, and love and the intertwined fate of three women, Nina, a shy and withdrawn foster child, is attracted to the impulsive nature of Toni, a defiant thief who she meets one morning in Berlin's Tiergarten. Their paths intersect with Françoise, a mentally ill woman who wanders through Berlin searching for her daughter Marie who was kidnapped there many years ago. Françoise's husband Pierre gently persuades her to return to Paris, but when Françoise sees Nina with Toni, she believes she has seen her long lost daughter.
